A city window is the starting point, not the whole route
AirAgora evaluates the city coordinate and local timezone with the same deterministic two-hour rule. That gives a consistent broad timing comparison. A long ride can cross multiple grid cells and environments, so the result should not be read as a route-integrated exposure estimate.
Road type, distance from traffic, tunnels, elevation, stops, indoor segments, and local plumes can create conditions the broad modeled grid does not resolve.
Cycling changes caution, not the ranking
Activity selection does not alter the ordered environmental windows. It changes the caution threshold and wording to acknowledge that exertion and duration may matter. This avoids hidden personalization and keeps the method testable.
A person with individual health concerns needs guidance appropriate to that context. AirAgora provides information and does not diagnose fitness to ride.
How the two-hour score handles a changing forecast
Each candidate needs two valid consecutive hours. The score gives 70 percent weight to the mean severity and 30 percent to the worst hour, so a deteriorating second hour remains visible.
If a shorter ride fits inside one hour, the comparison is still useful context but not a custom one-hour recommendation. Premium extends the planning horizon; it does not change the underlying score formula.
Compare the scheme and pollutant, not just the color
A European AQI color and a U.S. AQI color do not imply identical breakpoints. AirAgora attaches the scheme name and selects the main pollutant from documented concentration-band severities rather than mixing concentration units.
The component can help explain the aggregate result, but it cannot establish the source along a cycling corridor. Static city content intentionally avoids causal claims about traffic or industry.
When to defer to official information
During wildfire smoke, dust, an industrial release, or another severe event, consult local authorities. An official station or incident notice may be more relevant to a specific route and current plume than a broad forecast.
AirAgora never paywalls severe-condition caution. If the OpenWeather provider is unconfigured or unavailable and no bounded stale result exists, it shows unavailable rather than a simulated ride window.
